2022 Best Sustainable Operations

  • The research sector is taking steps to be part of the solution to the growing climate emergency. This category seeks case studies that demonstrate how research operations have been adapted to mitigate impact on the environment OR examples of the development/launch of sustainable products or services for the research sector that will have a positive impact on a more sustainable future.

    Who should apply?

    The award is open to all types of operations businesses/teams and will go to the entry that can best demonstrate their commitment to sustainability in the 12 months up until 1 May 2022.

    What the judges are looking for:
    • either innovative or significant evolutions of approaches to research operations which have had a demonstrable positive impact on environmental sustainability
    • examples of new products/services which will help the research sector contribute to a more sustainable future
    • commitment to or clear intention to commit to the MRS Net Zero Pledge or commitment to comparable standard/s
    Submission format

    Please submit a 500-word statement outlining why you should win the award. Use metrics to support your claims. In addition, you must provide three 100-word attributed statements from clients or users supporting your case. No material other than this will be taken into account. All elements of your submission are only viewed by the judges, who must sign confidentiality agreements, and a limited number of MRS staff. They will not be published in any form.

  • Rules of Entry

    • All work referenced in the entry must have occurred in the 12 months up until 1 May 2022.
    • Entrants must participate in a recognised framework regulating the services provided to the research sector (MRS Company Partner, employ members of MRS or other equivalent association outside the UK).
    • You must nominate a primary contact who will take overall responsibility for the entry.
    • The primary contact must ensure that permission to enter the awards is obtained from all parties involved.
    • The judges' decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into about why an entry is not selected as a finalist.
    • Entries must be received by 4pm on Thursday 30 June 2022 to qualify.
